Consumer Model Prototype specifically made for E3 in 2011 as first public model presented to the public. To that time it was still referred to as NGP (Next Generation Portable)
Notice The following section contains theories! |
The pictures are not confirmed to be linked to this codename (which was found in official documentation). While it perfectly makes sense and matches the time, we have to mark this as a theory until proven true or false.
The model should be dated before or between EVT1 & EVT2 stage of the other CEM Prototypes. It however probably is a disguised Devkit with more RAM etc so that the early development versions of games would run. The two found Update files contain CPUP updates and spkgs are roughly similar to their DEM counterpart ones. A real Consumer Prototype was probably not ready at that point so they made this retail looking "hybrid"
There may be different revisions to this model as well! Some pictures show 2 bottom screws and a different plastic bottom design in black. (see Sogabe picture bottom left)
Naming
"CEM" most probably corresponds to: Consumer Engineering Model
This model doesn't follow the CEM suffix naming pattern because of its special purpose!
Serial
unknown
Design
"PlayStation" text on the front instead of "PSVita".
Only one bottom screw between the port and the headphone jack.
A white model exists as well.
No labels since it was a show model.
only one top slot
The backplate design matches CEM-3000NE2
Misc
The following update file exists:
PSP2UPDAT-0_925_030-CEM3000E3.PUP
PSP2UPDAT-0_926_000-CEM3000E3.PUP
